A San Francisco native born in 1979, Edana Contreras joined the Creativity Explored 2 studio from 2006 until 2010. She recently graduated from San Francisco State University with a degree in Radio and Television Communications.
Contreras says she is still developing herself as a multimedia artist, but currently her medium of choice is computer animation. She tends to include humor and social commentary in her animated works. A recent piece involved a languid fish in a fishbowl, “hooked” on television. Aside from digital artwork, Contreras is also interested in traditional techniques including media such as pastel, watercolor, and charcoal. Her works on paper have evolved from being very controlled and detail oriented, to being much looser and more fluid.
