Sue Chan was born in Hong Kong in 1959, and recently gained US citizenship. She has been an artist at Creativity Explored since 1995.
Chan mainly uses permanent markers to create small, dense compositions. She works rhythmically, building up fields of color with small dots or controlled lines. These concentrated areas grow into pastoral landscapes of figures engaged with landscapes. She often depicts domestic scenes of women and children surrounded by trees, vivid flowers, and luminescent skies.
In addition to drawing, Chan has also worked in digital animation to chronicle her experiences and desires.
